Haven’t you missed going to church?
Last Sunday the St. Andrew’s Church of Pollensa threw its doors open to a real congregation, who found themselves with more personal space and even more sterile hands than usual.
Here is more from Vicky:
Well, what a delight it was to be able to worship together in St.Andrew’s at Puerto Pollensa for the first time since 8th March 2020.
To be allowed to go back into our church building and to be able to share Eucharist together was indeed a privilege and a pleasure.
Canon Simon Stephens lead the worship and there was a feeling of complete safety as the chairs each had a nine square metre personal space.
Hand sanitizer was compulsory upon entry, and a list of attendees and their phone numbers were taken down for security purposes. Face masks were required and Father Simon did an excellent job despite being gloved, masked and fully robed throughout!
The service began with the installation and lighting of the pashcal candle to beautiful Taize music. A sense of calm commenced and remained throughout the wonderful service. Singing is not yet allowed owing to regulations, but that did not stop us from enjoying music before the prayers of intercession, during the distribution of the Eucharist (in one form only) and to complete the worship.
It was indeed a joyful day and the congregation had made the effort to wear red which gave an added feeling of celebration. At the end of the service Father Simon gave a red rose to all of the ladies which added to the beauty of the occasion.
We look forward to worshipping there again this coming Trinity Sunday at 10am and everyone is welcome.
We also have a ‘Prayer hour’ on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm and a midday Eucharist on a Wednesday at 12.30pm.
