Spanish Residents

If one of the partners has lived legally in Spain for at least two years then the civil marriage can be done in the local town hall followed by a religious ceremony in church or other location.

Please check with the local town hall for their requirements.

Non-Residents

If neither of the partners fulfil the residence requirements then the civil marriage will take place in their country of origin followed by a ceremony in church, at a hotel, on a beach or any other chosen location.

For UK citizens this usually means the civil marriage taking place in the local registry office followed by the religious ceremony here. It’s probably worth contacting one of the clergy as early as possible to discuss your plans.

How the Donations are set

The donations suggested here contributes towards the upkeep of the service that the Chaplaincy is pleased to provide for any who come to Mallorca and especially wedding couples. The level of donation is based upon the fees set by the Registrar for Births, Deaths and Marriages for England and Wales for a wedding service.

Use of our Churches

While the use of the Anglican churches in Palma or Puerto Pollenca is free, the donation for use of a Catholic Church building usually varies from €150 to €400 depending upon location and the amount requested by the local Catholic parish priest. This is paid by a couple separately and to the local Catholic Church parish office and a couple are responsible for making this arrangement.

Time To Start Planning

You would normally need a minimum of two months to make your plans with either the town hall or registry office.

Having The Legal Part Of The Wedding In Our Church

For UK couples the process is long and complicated

(see https://www.gov.uk/marriage-abroad).

All our wedding couples thus far, have enjoyed a legal registration of their marriage in their home country followed by a more elaborate celebration ceremony here on this beautiful Island.
